This year, I decided to book into summer courses based on some specific areas; leadership (I’ve been AP2 since 2021 and acted up as AP1 last year and DP this year), fine motor skills (particularly for middle/older classes so I can make practice a bit different, creative, fun, engaging and ‘grown up’) and gross motor skills (as teaching PE and specific gross motor/fundamental movement skills wouldn’t be my strongest area as a teacher). As a teacher, I have always felt that the best CPD is often the teacher down the hallway who is really passionate about a particular aspect of teaching and learning. To me, Instagram felt like a whole new version of that; a place to find ideas, learn from others, and connect with people who I might never have been lucky to teach alongside and learn from in ‘real life’.
